The Winnipeg Blizzard have shifted gears on the Tier 2 program. We planned to take a team out west this summer, but with short notice and prior commitments of all Junior aged players in Manitoba, we have had a hard time securing a full roster to head out west. Therefore, we are changing gears and are now offering the following for all local players in order to keep this age group playing the sport we all love.

Practices each Tuesday from now until June 25th from 7:00pm - 8:30pm
3 Exhibition games vs the Tier 1 team between now and June 30th
2 exhibition games vs the U17 box team
Cost per player will be $200.00 If you are interested in this, please email me back to secure your spot, and E-transfers can be sent to winnipegblizzard@gmail.com

Practice goes tonight from 7:00pm - 8:30pm at the Notre Dame arena. All players must register before stepping onto the floor with me. Email me to secure your spot or obtain answers to any questions you may have. Winnipegblizzard@gmail.com

The Winnipeg Blizzard are very excited to announce Rob Gardner has accepted the head coaching position for the Tier 2 team for 2024.
Rob Gardner started his lacrosse career at the age of 8, playing in the Vernon Minor Lacrosse Program in British Columbia. As he developed his skills, he played on a provincial championship team and then spent three years with the Jr. A and Sr. A Richmond Outlaws. At 15, he served as an assistant coach in the Vernon Minor Lacrosse program. In 1990, he helped establish lacrosse in the Kamloops area, while coaching various teams.

In 1992, Rob moved to Manitoba. He immediately began coaching lacrosse, both box and field. He was instrumental in creating the Warhawks Junior Box Lacrosse program, which was the foundation for the Manitoba Gryphons, now the Winnipeg Blizzard in the RMLL Tier 1 Division.

From 1992 until 2017, Rob has coached all age groups of lacrosse players, winning city and provincial championships at each level. His Warhawks Junior B team went to five Founders Cup competitions, participated and won as a junior team in the Manitoba Senior Lacrosse League, and also won a Western Canada Junior B Tier II title.

Rob served a year as a Senior Box team head coach and player, three years as head coach of Manitoba’s U-19 Field Lacrosse team, three years as assistant coach for Manitoba’s Senior Field Lacrosse team, three years as head coach of Manitoba’s Peewee Provincial team, and five years as the province’s Founders Cup team’s head coach. That’s quite a resume!
Rob has also served this sport in the executive capacity as a board member of the Manitoba Lacrosse Association and the Red River Lacrosse Association. He has been a member of the Manitoba Lacrosse Coaching Committee and was President of the Gryphons Minor Lacrosse Program.

Since he arrived in Manitoba, Rob has been a key and valued asset in the promotion, coaching and development of lacrosse in the province. His wealth of knowledge has provided a strong foundation for many past, current and future lacrosse stars in Manitoba, in both box and field.
Please help me welcome Rob to his new role as Head Coach of the Blizzard Tier 2 team
