The Winnipeg Blizzard are proud to announce Don Jacks as the new Head Coach of the 2025 Senior Team.
A true leader in the sport, Don brings with him decades of experience as a player, coach, and builder. As a 2025 inductee into the Manitoba Lacrosse Hall of Fame (Player & Builder), he has competed and coached at the highest levels, including international championships, multiple provincial titles, and national tournaments.
As the founder of Youth1st Lacrosse and a driving force behind lacrosse development in Manitoba and Indigenous communities, Coach Jacks is more than a coach, he’s a mentor, visionary, and fierce advocate for the game.

Please join us in welcoming Coach Jacks to the Blizzard family, as we journey down the road to returning to the Presidents Cup.

The road to a Canadian Lacrosse National Championship is long and grueling. Months of training, organizing and dedication goes into being able to send a team that will represent Manitoba proudly. It has been 20 years since a Manitoba team has traveled this road on the way to the Presidents Cup. That changes this year. All great things must come to an end. After 4 years coaching with the Blizz, Coach Woody has stepped down off the bench. As we all know the daily grind this team demands, coach Woody has shown us all what it takes, as he is the longest serving coach the Blizzard have ever had. Joining the team as an assistant coach in 2019, saw Woody then take on the head coach role in 2022 after a 2 year covid period. After only 1 year as head coach, Woody took the team in 2023 to the RMLL championship game where we fell short to the Edmonton Warriors. Vowing to never let history repeat itself, coach Woody worked hard in the 2024 season and that hard work paid off, as it saw himself, his coaching staff and the team win the 2024 Rmll Championship. Thank you Coach Woody for all you’ve done for this organization, you will be missed. Coach Woody is not off the hook completely this year as you will see him on the floor over the winter at the 2025 Blizz winter camps. Good luck in the future Coach Woody.
